The war on science is a war on the public

Among the flurry of actions by the Trump administration, it could be easy to miss one that poses a grave danger to public health and our planet: a no-holds-barred attack on science.
In a series of disturbing moves, the administration has censored scientific research, slashed resources for public health and the environment, and advanced fossil fuel industry propaganda. These moves only serve corporate interests — at the expense of ordinary people and the planet.
Local residents protest planned weapons plant

Sunday, February 23, 2025 was a cold, wintry day in Central Ohio, but concerned citizens gathered at Rickenbacker International Airport to challenge the wisdom of building a $1 billion weapons factory in Columbus Ohio. The project, called Arsenal-1, would build numerous types of weapons, including flying drones, underwater vessels, and surveillance towers, for government agencies and the military.

Immigrants’ awareness of their civil rights is gaining traction – but if you see ICE, take a picture

Tension is high in Columbus amongst immigrants and activists, yet white America will never know the fear of being an undocumented immigrant of color, especially now.
Making things worse for our local immigrant community was a false Columbus Reddit post of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents stalking international grocery stores on the North Side back in late January. A post with no photo or video yet read by tens-of-thousand.
Whether it was a white advocate who mistook what they saw, or a miserable neo-Nazi out for more spite, is unknown. The Brooklyn-based The Haitian Times reported how the post led to “rumors” which “quickly gained traction, sparking fear in the city’s immigrant communities.”

Cleveland Palestine Advocacy Community Applauds Cuyahoga County’s Decision to Freeze Israel Bond Investments

The Cleveland Palestine Advocacy Community (CPAC) celebrates Cuyahoga County’s decision to end its bond investments, including $3 million in Israel Bonds, a move that redirects these funds back for the county’s needs. This decision, announced earlier today, marks a step toward responsible financial policy and a rejection of investments that support systemic human rights violations.
“I know $3 million is only a fraction of the county’s total investment in Israel Bonds,” said Dr. Shereen Naser, a CPAC advocate. “But that’s $3 million less funding the military occupation that restricts my family’s freedom and opportunities and sends bombs to Palestinian schools, and $3 million more that can be used to benefit our own communities here in Cuyahoga County.”

Constituents Protest Outside Husted Fundraiser

On Saturday evening, on a quiet residential street in Bexley, Ohio, a crowd began gathering along the sidewalk in the cold. Word had spread that the wealthy home owner was hosting a fundraiser for Senator John Husted. Neighbors and other area constituents gathered to protest the Senator’s decision to mingle with donors at a fundraiser while he remains inaccessible to everyday Ohioans. Senator Husted has yet to open a single in-state office and voters cannot get through on his one DC telephone number.
