Atomic reactors were originally developed to produce plutonium for nuclear weapons. Using the heat of their operation to produce steam pressure to drive turbines to generate electric power was a convenient cover story necessary to overcome people’s fear and repugnance against using nuclear weapons after the horror of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Since nuclear reactors’ inception, over 50 years of repeated official promises to ban nuclear weapons have never been honored.

Every nuclear power reactor in every nuclear nation, and the accumulated radioactive spent fuel from its operation, is a potential nuclear weapon-in-place for saboteurs and terrorists.

Uranium mining, milling, enriching, fuel fabrication and nuclear reactors are also the industrial foundation for nuclear weapons production.

The ‘inalienable right’ to have nuclear power therefore also carries with it the right to make nuclear bombs.

We are heartened to learn that the U.S. government is communicating with the Russian government, and are only sorry that such a basic step seemingly required a presidential election, when a glance at the Doomsday Clock ought to have been sufficient.

Let's be clear: the forced displacement of Palestinians is not a new idea. US President Donald Trump's latest proposal to take “long-term ownership” of Gaza, to “clean out” the “mess”, and to turn it into a “Riviera of the Middle East” is just the latest iteration of efforts aimed at ethnically cleansing Palestinians from their homeland.

 What makes Trump’s comments dangerous is not the immediate threat of US military intervention in Gaza followed by the expulsion of its 2.2 million residents. The real danger lies elsewhere. 

 First, Israel may interpret Trump’s words as a green light to push Palestinians out of Gaza or the West Bank. Second, the US could tacitly endorse another Israeli offensive under the guise of fulfilling the president’s wishes. Third, Trump’s remarks suggest his foreign policy on Palestine will remain largely unchanged from his predecessor’s.

The news daily can be disheartening under this apartheid system: Raids on
bookshops and confiscating books, more ethnic cleansing, more
tortured Palestinian prisoners, more destruction of refugee camps (here in
West Bank), more lock-ups, more lies, .. We in Palestine remain struggling
to survive against all odds: An American empire run by a petty egomaniac
intent on making the rich richer, a Zionist movement and its followers who
commit worse atrocities than Nazis, collaborative Arab regimes that do not
really pay attention to their people, a web of lies from media, a
palestinian authority that remains trapped like a mouse on a glue trap
(Oslo) unable or unwilling to extricate itself, leaders who value their
position over their children's future, a populace that has been
domesticated and values merely watching and consuming (junk). And an apex
of absurdity a world leader (Trump) controlled by another leader
(Netanyahu) and both believing that the poor and weak are "losers" and
their oppressors/the rich are "winners".

How about “Al Gore”?  “John Kerry”?  “Hillary Clinton”?
 
And how about the “Democratic Party” that ran them…and that
now embraces irrelevance in a hollow, timid shell as Donald
Trump dismantles American democracy?
 
Despite the uncounted millions who organized, funded and voted
for them, those four Presidential candidates and their Party have
left American democracy in need dire of political leadership powerful
enough to regenerate an electoral system that actually answers to
its populace.
 
By a dubious official vote count, Donald Trump in 2024 carried
less than half the US electorate.  More than 75,000,000 citizens
are known to have voted for Harris.
 
But then she disappeared…as if she’d never run…as if the tens of
millions who organized, raised money, sweated blood and voted
for her had no reason to expect her to continue the fight. 
 
Harris has two downfalls in common with Gore, Kerry and
Clinton:

The richest man on earth recently forced good people across the country to interrupt their community work to respond to his lies and threats.

Lutheran social service agencies offer crucial assistance related to adoption, foster care, domestic violence, and more. They also support immigrants and refugees, helping new Americans learn English, find homes and jobs, and settle into their new communities.

Like many nonprofits, they often get federal support to offer this help.

But in early February, as Musk’s “Department of Government Efficiency” was forcing its way into government, right-wing activist Michael Flynn posted on social media that federal contracts with Lutheran social services organizations amounted to “money laundering.”

Musk responded that DOGE was “rapidly shutting down these illegal payments.”

The world is witnessing yet another chapter in the Trump administration’s reckless approach to foreign policy. This time, the target is Gaza, and the rhetoric is as outrageous as it is dangerous. President Trump’s recent statements about expelling Palestinians from their homeland and transforming Gaza into the “Riviera of the Middle East” are not only absurd but also blatant endorsements of war crimes and ethnic cleansing. How did we get here?
